Research and planning: Double page spread analysis

This is a double page spread from a dub step magazine. The main thing I noticed on this page is that the background is black. This could be to make the page stand out from all the other pages in the magazine, that from my research, will be bright and colorful. On the left hand side of the page there are two columns of text whereas on the right hand side, the full page has a famous artist on the front of it. This could be to emphasis his importance and dominance. The colour scheme on this page is black, red and white. The background is mainly black whereas the text is white. The red text is used as a quote for the famous artist, again this could be to make him stand out. From the analysis of this page I have also realized that the model in the magazine also dresses to the colour scheme by wearing black and red.

There is a clear colour scheme of red, black and white. The dominant background colour is black with some red text and three red stripes at the top. The artist is also wearing a lighter shade of black t-shirt that also has red stripes along the shoulder. This shows continuity of colour right across the pages.

The small red paragraph is a personal note from the artist himself. It is red to show its importance and difference as well as showing that the words came out of his mouth. The paragraph is away from the rest of the text the same way the artist is again showing dominance.

There is a medium close up on the artist this is so we the audience feel as if we are talking to the artist face to face. This is emphasized by the direct eye contact the artist is also giving us.

The use of columns shows that this is a magazine text rather than a novel. The large image and quote also shows that this is a magazine.
